GRAPE VARIETY: Chardonnay in its purest form, with a small percentage of Sauvignon Blanc.

CHARACTERISTICS: An elegant, mineral white wine, with aromas of white flowers, citrus fruits and ripe fruit; fresh, balanced and persistent.

HISTORICAL NOTES: Created in 1988 by Angelo Gaja and dedicated to his daughter Rossana, Rossj–Bass marked a turning point in the production of Piedmontese white wines. Gaja’s introduction of Chardonnay to the Langhe opened up new quality prospects, transforming this wine into an icon of elegance and innovation, now appreciated internationally.

REGION: Sicily, Menfi

GRAPE VARIETY: Chardonnay.

CHARACTERISTICS: Dry and complex, with notes of tropical fruit, citrus, vanilla and butter; rich and balanced structure.

HISTORICAL NOTES: Introduced in Menfi in the 1980s, it has become the flagship wine of the Planeta estate. It has helped relaunch Sicily’s image as a land of great white wines of international quality.

REGION: Sicily, Contea di Sclafani

GRAPE VARIETY: Chardonnay.

CHARACTERISTICS: Dry and structured, with notes of citrus fruits, tropical fruit, vanilla and white flowers; complex and elegant.

HISTORICAL NOTES: Sourced from a single vineyard planted in 1985, it is considered one of the finest expressions of Sicilian Chardonnay. Contea di Sclafani is a terroir of the highest quality, ideal for producing long-lived and refined wines.

REGION: Umbria, Orvieto

GRAPE VARIETIES: Chardonnay, Grechetto.

CHARACTERISTICS: Dry and complex, with notes of citrus, peach, vanilla and hazelnut; elegant and with great ageing potential.

HISTORICAL NOTES: Created in 1985, it is one of Italy’s most awarded white wines. Considered a pioneer in the use of Chardonnay in Umbria, it takes its name from the medieval castle owned by the Antinori family, which houses one of the most evocative cellars in Europe.
