Macchianera Cipressi
€ 30.00
Grapes: Tintilia and Montepulciano
Alcohol content: 14%
Description: Macchianera by Claudio Cipressi is the wine produced from Montepulciano grapes (85%) and Tintilia (15%) that tells of an agricultural, rustic, and artisanal Molise at high altitude. A red wine with an intriguing and harmonious sip, with a aftertaste of berries and sour cherries. We are in San Felice, a small municipality in Molise at 600 meters above sea level. Here, on a calcareous soil and with an excellent breeze blowing all year round between the rows, Claudio Cipressi manages his 16 hectares of vineyards according to the principles of organic farming, respecting a unique land. Claudio Cipressi is the man of Tintilia, the producer who has managed to recover and give new life to an autochthonous Molise grape variety that had fallen into disuse, of which he is still the greatest custodian today. Alongside a massive production of Tintilia grapes, some hectares are dedicated to other interesting grapes that find a perfect habitat in the high hills of Molise. Among these stands out the black grape variety Montepulciano, which makes up 85% of this wine. The Montepulciano and Tintilia grapes are hand-harvested and collected in crates. Once in the winery, the grapes macerate for about 14 days in contact with the skins in stainless steel at a controlled temperature below 28°. For aging, the wine is moved to barriques, where it rests for about a year and a half, and then finishes aging in the bottle for an additional 6 months. Macchianera by Claudio Cipressi presents itself in the glass with a bright ruby red color, with reflections tending to garnet shades. On the nose, it is complex and deep, with clear hints of red-fleshed fruit, reminiscent of sour cherries and berries. The sip is elegant and warm, full-bodied and tannic, concluding with a persistent and balanced finish. We pair the organic red wine Macchianera with refined meat dishes, such as truffled veal roast or guinea fowl, but also with homemade dishes, such as meatballs or lasagna.
